Martin Kelly insists Liverpool will go to Chelsea with renewed confidence after revealing the togetherness that Kenny Dalglish has installed at Anfield.

The England U21 star has been a regular starter since Dalglish returned to the managerial reigns and he believes the manager has given the squad a real sense of belief and unity.

Kelly told Liverpoolfc.tv: "We are all working hard for each other as a team. Even the lads on the bench and the players not involved in the squad are helping out and we are all together like one big family.

"That is what is making us progress and we are really enjoying our football.

"You can never take it for granted going to Stamford Bridge and it's a really tough place to go but we are looking forward to it, especially after three wins on the bounce and three clean sheets.

"I'm sure if we keep playing our football and do the things the manager wants us to do then we can get a result there.

Back in November Kelly made his first start in the top-flight during the 2-0 win over Chelsea at Anfield and he is hoping for a repeat of that in London on Sunday.

"It was enjoyable for me to play in that game and hopefully we can get the same result on Sunday," he added.

"I thought we played well against Stoke and we are made up with another clean sheet as well. It has given us all a big boost and gives us good confidence to go into that big game at Chelsea on Sunday."

Another reason that gives Liverpool's No.34 confidence going into the clash at Stamford Bridge is the form of Raul Meireles and Luis Suarez who had a debut to remember against Stoke when he netted at the Kop end.

He added: "It was a fantastic strike from Raul for our first goal and he is converting everything he is touching at the moment, so if he can do that again on Sunday we will be buzzing.

"Luis Suarez is a great player and we are hoping he can show that potential he has undoubtedly got. I am looking forward to working with him and having him in our side is a great positive for us.

"He is a player with flair and our supporters warmed to him straight away.

"It's a massive boost for us to get Suarez and Andy Carroll. On paper those two up front could be unstoppable.

"They will work hard together and adapt to how we like to play football and we can go from strength to strength.

"I remember playing against Andy for the youth team and then the reserves which is quite a while back now.

"We have both come through from the reserve team and it's good now we can play in the same team."

For the game against Stoke Kelly was deployed in a new role when he played at right wing back.

"It was a bit strange for me at first because usually my outlet is to get the ball to the player in front of me playing on the right wing but I had to make other decisions," he said.

"I was happy to do what the manager wanted and we got the three points which is the main thing."

Martin Kelly will be out of action for a month after sustaining a hamstring tear during Sunday's clash with West Ham United.

Liverpool FC Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science Dr Peter Brukner has confirmed the defender is facing four weeks on the sidelines after assessing the injury at Melwood.

Kelly pulled up following a surge down the wing during the first half of the Reds' 3-1 defeat at Upton Park and was promptly substituted.

He is now set to miss Sunday's Anfield encounter with Manchester United, the Europa League last 16 tie with SC Braga and the Barclays Premier League trip to Sunderland on March 20.

A mon avis on verra plutôt Carra prendre la place de Kelly à droite, Glen à gauche et Agger/Skrtel dans l'axe. Par contre ça va nous forcer à jouer a 4 derrière contre ManU, reste à espérer que Ferguson nous aligne un milieu gentil qu'on puisse les bouffer dans les règles.

England boss Fabio Capello has revealed he is considering giving Liverpool defender Martin Kelly a call-up into the senior squad.

Kelly has established himself as a key member of the Liverpool side over the last 18 months after earning an extended run in the side under Kenny Dalglish last term.

The versatile defender, who can play at centre-back as well as right-back, has won two caps for England Under 21s and he is now in contention for the senior side.

Capello watched Kelly in action during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday and he is a big admirer of the 21-year-old stopper.

"I see some players interesting for me, some new players like Kelly the right-back, he is really interesting," Capello told Sky Sports' Goals On Sunday.

"He is young and he played a good, good game."

Kelly m'impressionne au fil des matchs. Je le trouve solide derriere et malgré le fait qu'il monte rarement, quand il le fait c'est toujours interressant c'est des montées rageuses et c'est dur de se mettre dans son chemin vu son physique

A la base c'est un DC ? Faut qu'il se convertisse en lateral pour toujours pour moi quant a en faire un titulaire c'est beaucoup trop tôt, il fait un très bon remplaçant de glen.

Kelly a fait une seule apparition en tant que défenseur central! C'était contre Galatasaray et l'effectif n'y était pas...Que des degen+poulsen+insua ..

Disons que Kelly a + d'expérience comme défenseur central, c'est à ce poste qu'il a fait ses classes chez les jeunes et dans la réserve. Après, c'est clair qu'on l'a davantage vu comme latéral que comme défenseur central.

Dans mon message initial, je voulais surtout dire que Dalglish voyait peut-être Kelly comme une alternative comme défenseur central vu qu'il a fait un ou deux matchs comme DC dans la préparation. Bref, c'est bien d'avoir des garçons polyvalents dans l'équipe.

Liverpool FC’s Martin Kelly ready to return to full training this week

MARTIN KELLY has handed Liverpool FC a boost by announcing himself ready for a return to full training this week.

The 21-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in last month’s 3-1 LFC win over Bolton Wanderers at Anfield but tests have revealed only a minor strain.

Kelly suffered a hamstring tear at West Ham United in February of last season and so when he felt a twinge after just half an hour in the Bolton game, he knew it wise to come off as a precautionary measure.

Being forced out of action so early in the new season came as a frustration for Kelly who had diligently worked alongside club physios during the summer in order to try and prevent the reoccurrence of the injury.

But now back in light training and buoyed by the results of his scan, Kelly is hopeful of being back in the fold at Melwood by the end of this week as his return to fitness moves up a notch.

“We had a scan and it was good news – it was only a slight strain,” said Kelly

“I’ll build up training this week.

“The first thing I thought was, ‘Can I carry on?’ We tried a few exercises on the side but I don’t think it was worth it. I could have maybe played on but (it was important to) get it right, with the history of hamstring trouble I had last season.

“I’ve done quite a lot of work over the last six months. Touch wood this will be the last.

“It’s all part of football. You’re going to get injuries. This is just a slight injury – no more than two weeks. It should be fine after that, injuries won’t trouble me. It’s just an unlucky time in the game for me.”
