    LFC store

    Anfield - agrandissement.

ça vient du times et c'est récent: Pressure grows to secure a naming-rights deal to part-fund the construction of a new stadium for the club in Stanley Park Liverpool are becoming resigned to leaving Anfield and are facing a race against time to attract a naming-rights partner to part-fund the construction of a new stadium in Stanley Park. Fenway Sports Group's (FSG) review of its stadium options, launched after the takeover of the club in October, is continuing and a decision is yet to be made. But it is understood that the prohibitive costs associated with redeveloping Anfield have made relocating from the club's spiritual home the preferred option. Liverpool's predicament was thrown into sharper focus when it emerged that Manchester City will announce a stadium naming-rights deal with Etihad, the national airline of Abu Dhabi, today. City are owned by the ruling family of the Gulf state and the deal is estimated to be worth between £10 million and £15 million a year. City's spending has significantly outstripped Liverpool's since the club were taken over in 2008, but the latest move indicates that the FA Cup winners are moving towards compliance with Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations, which start in 2013. As reported in The Times last week, Liverpool City Council has granted the club an extra three months to make a decision on whether or not they will take up the option of a 999-year lease for the Stanley Park site. The council has, however, made it clear to Liverpool that it is seeking a decision on the lease by late September, leaving FSG only three months to bring its search for a naming-rights partner to a successful conclusion. A further extension could be sought and granted, but FSG has attempted to pre-empt the possibility of putting itself at the mercy of a council whose patience is wearing thin by placing the responsibility for attracting a naming-rights deal in the hands of its in-house operations team, which is headed by Sam Kennedy, the company president, and based in Boston. John W. Henry, the Liverpool principal owner, has admitted that "it would be hard to replicate" Anfield's atmosphere anywhere else — a belief that led to a delegation of Boston architects being deputised to conduct a feasibility study into the possibility of Liverpool remaining there. Financial pressures, though, have reduced the likelihood that Henry will be able to oversee a redevelopment of the stadium, similar to the sympathetic restoration of Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox, that FSG successfully managed. A further factor pulling Liverpool away from Anfield is that the price of building a new stadium in Stanley Park could fall by about 15 per cent as a result of the global reduction in construction costs caused by the credit crunch. When HKS, the Dallas-based architect, first won the contract to build a 60,000-capacity stadium in Stanley Park in 2008, the estimated cost was £310 million, but the figure would now be cut by up to £46 million. Although HKS was selected by Tom Hicks, Liverpool's previous owner, its proposals are being considered by FSG, as are the plans submitted by AFL, the Manchester-based architect, which was overlooked by Hicks in 2008 despite being the favoured option of Rick Parry, the club's chief executive at the time. Significantly, the two proposals retain planning permission from Liverpool council, meaning building work could begin immediately should FSG give a new stadium the green light.

  4. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/26/kenny-dalglish-danny-murphy-liverpool Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish responds to Murphy's 'little pressure' claim • Murphy pointed out Reds had played 'under very little pressure' • We played fantastic that night against Fulham, says Dalglish Kenny Dalglish has taken Danny Murphy to task after the Fulham captain claimed Liverpool have to prove they can perform under pressure when they bid to return to the Champions League next season. Liverpool were transformed in the second half of the season under Dalglish, rising from 12th when he replaced Roy Hodgson as manager in January to sixth and only missing out on the Europa League after losing their final two matches. Among several impressive performances was a 5-2 win at Fulham on 9 May, after which Murphy praised his former club's revival but claimed Liverpool's woeful start to the season had allowed them to play without pressure in the final months. When asked if Liverpool could challenge for the title in 2012, Murphy replied: "It's hard to say because they have been playing under very little pressure. They haven't needed to go out and win games, and everything they get now is a bonus. It will be a different ask for those players to play under pressure every week if they are near the top, but with Kenny in charge and a few more additions they will be pushing for the top four again." Dalglish is unhappy with that evaluation, however, and has rebuked a player who championed Hodgson's credentials for the Liverpool job that he sought last summer. The Liverpool manager said: "He [Murphy] should know there is always pressure here. He played here long enough, didn't he? I just know that we played fantastic that night against Fulham and so does he. "There's always a caveat in there somewhere, isn't there? There's always somebody that asks a question. But if you take any pride in your work, you are under pressure in any walk of life. It's not just exclusive to football. You worry about their ability to play first, and I'm sure the players can handle anything else that comes with it." Dalglish says he did not want the season to end having won 10 of 18 Premier League games since taking charge. "The season has only been a short one for myself having come in in January," he said. "You don't feel ready for a holiday and want it to continue. There will be plenty of enthusiasm in July when we come back." Having confirmed Liverpool will be in the market for top‑quality additions this summer, the Scot is adamant he will have a squad capable of handling and fulfilling expectations next season. "The expectation is for everybody to build on what has happened since January, have a good summer and go into every game with the same attitude and commitment as we have shown since January. If you put those things in place, then we aren't going to be too far away. "Everyone is looking forward to next season, which wouldn't have been the case if we had stayed 12th. The fans are looking forward to it and so are the players. The disappointment of earlier in the season doesn't do them any harm, because once you win a couple of games you see how enjoyable it is. We only need to show improvement, and that will be a successful season. If we improve on what we've done this season next season, then I don't think anybody can be disappointed."

  13. He's been handed the No.7 shirt that you made famous - how hopeful are you Luis Suarez can add his name to the list of great No.7s to have played for LFC? No, I didn't make it famous - Kevin Keegan made it famous and I was fortunate to come to a fantastic football club and have the No.7. :respect: :respect:
  14. Great quote from Kenny: "I started off at Celtic and moved on, but if Kevin Keegan had not gone, maybe I would not be here. It's no different now – people move on. The most important thing is the club. That is much more important and bigger than any one individual, no matter who has been through it previously and who will in the future – the club is the club. I will never forget that and anyone who does is being a wee bit stupid and irresponsible."

    The boot room

ça vient de l'offal. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/i-ll-bring-boot-room-back ____________________________________________________________________ The 59-year-old will lead out the Reds against Everton today for the first time in front of the Kop since being reinstalled to the hot seat. Dalglish's previous stint at the helm yielded three league titles and two FA Cups, though he attributes the support and unity of his backroom team as being a key factor in the success. Almost 20 years after his first reign came to an end, the Scot is once again Liverpool boss - and he's hoping to recreate a similar set-up to that which proved so triumphant during the halcyon days of the 1970s and 80s. "The Boot Room shouldn't just be perceived as somewhere to go to have a drink with the opposition manager," said Dalglish. "Wherever you go, all teams should be the same. The Boot Room was somewhere were everything was discussed and everything that was pertinent to LFC was discussed in there. "Certainly that's the way I've been brought up and that's how I try to be. I always include the staff and at the end of the day there's staff with various roles and responsibilities and we all get on with our jobs. "The Boot Room unified everyone and I don't know if there have been any divisions here in times gone by, but there certainly won't be any divisions as long as I'm sitting here." Dalglish has already moved to bolster his backroom staff with the appointment of acclaimed coach Steve Clarke, who will work with the first team at Melwood. "He's got a great CV and he's worked at some great clubs and with some top players," said the Reds boss. "He's a footballing person and he's someone who enjoys coaching and I don't think he has a real desire to be a manager so it's perfect for us. "As long as everyone's given their respect in what they do and given the room to do what they do then fine." It's fitting that it should be Everton who provide the first opposition for Dalglish's second coming at Anfield. The Blues regularly vied with the Reds for honours during the Scot's maiden reign, while they were also the last side he took on as Liverpool boss first time around when the two sides played out an epic 4-4 draw in an FA Cup tie at Goodison Park. Howard Kendall was the Everton gaffer that night - and he's already been in touch with Dalglish ahead of the 215th Merseyside derby. Nonetheless, Liverpool's new boss is keen to stress relations between the two clubs remain healthy. "Howard Kendall's phoned already - he said he hopes we get battered," joked Dalglish. "We've always got on. Right from the very top the club's have got on and trusted each other. "In the Boot Room days all the Everton staff used to come in for a drink, and in respect of players they always got along and they do now. "However on the pitch they break loose for 90 minutes and it's the same in the dug outs. Afterwards we just got on with our lives and put it to bed." He added: "I think it's a credit to both sets of fans that they can go to the games together, they can go with their mates, their sons, one Red and one Blue. "Unfortunately in recent times it's not as prevalent as what it used to be. I think it is probably still the friendliest derby and that is a great tribute to both sets of fans that they can get on." Some have suggested today's meeting could be the most important Merseyside derby since Dalglish's first spell in charge, albeit for different reasons given both sides have endured mixed campaign's so far. The manager, however, doesn't see it that way. He said: "I don't think the positions of either club have ever been a reflection of how important the game is. "I think the game is always important. It'll be the same as any other derby in the fact that anytime we play each other it is very important that you come out top. This will be no different."
